Because "life is more life without pain", it is with great satisfaction that we communicate that the book "Desenhos da minha dor" was adopted by IASP (International Association for the Study of Pain) and EFIC (European Pain Federation). We couldn't be prouder for such recognition towards this project that we have been cherishing.
As we all know, this publication from APED which is supported by BENE, joins several drawings of hospitalized children, who report their experience with pain, helping them to express their personal emotions and pain prospects in an easier and more funnier way.
This book highlights both an educational and informational component, focusing on pain in Pediatrics, and it is a part of APED's activities to celebrate the 2019 Global Year Against Pain in the Most Vulnerable. At the same time, it also aims to be a useful tool for health professionals, caregivers and the general public, with the goal of improving pain treatment in such a special population: children!
It should be noted that, in addition to the Portuguese version, the APED already made available the English version of the book - "Drawings of my pain".
It is never too much to remember the Children's Rights with regards to health care, reinforcing the idea that the relief of child's pain should be a clear priority for health professionals.
